Your visit will not be complete without a hearty Portuguese meal, unique in Melaka. Portuguese or Eurasian cuisine today is a blending of influences from Portuguese, Dutch, English, Malay, Chinese, Indian and Nyonya cultures. Though they may bear little resemblance to the food in Portugal, there is still a heavy emphasis on fish, seafood and meat. Look for fiery debal curries to sear your palate, pang susies (Susie buns) for a quick snack, and feast on Eurasian style seafood, a true specialty. |

| Debal Curry |
A very spicy meat curry flavoured with galangal, vinegar and candlenuts that is very popular during Christmas and other special occasions. Some people even add bacon and sausages to the curry for extra flavour. |

| Portuguese Sambal Prawns |
A popular and easily available dish made from fresh prawns sambal - a paste made from onions, dried seedless chilies, sugar, lime and candlenuts that are scrumptious served fresh from the kuali (frying pan). |

Similar to Mexican or Spanish empanadas or Indian samosas, puff pastry is cut into rounds and folded over a filling of curried ground beef, potatoes and peas. An egg wash is brushed over the tops giving them a beautiful golden brown color when baked. |
